Former left-back Marcelo, 36, has officially bid farewell to Real Madrid fans after announcing his retirement from professional football this week.

He returned to former club Fluminense in February 2023 before the 36-year-old left-back announced his retirement from professional football on February 6. He and his family travelled to Madrid to bid an official farewell to the Madridistas ahead of the Madrid derby.
‘I was lucky enough to enjoy my last day as a professional footballer. Thank you to Real Madrid for the great respect at the Bernabeu, which will always be my home, and to the Madridistas for another day of love. La Madrid! I love you, my Madrid,’ Marcelo posted on social media.

Real Madrid doesn’t forget its legends. The club made sure to post a statement on their official website to honor Marcelo. The statement says:
“Marcelo belongs to the history of Real Madrid and is one of the great legends of the club and of world football.”
Real Madrid president, Florentino Pérez, also shared some words about the Brazilian as he described him as:
