Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has criticised David Raya over his penalty decision in Saturday’s 1-1 Premier League draw at Everton.

“I saw something about David Raya in the penalty,” Wright told Premier League Productions. “He looked like he had taken a big step out to the other side, which almost gave the penalty taker enough time to say, ‘Okay, he’s definitely going to go that way.’

“I’ve seen his penalties recently where he’s always going the wrong way. I think his penalty-saving efforts are wrong because he’s too focus on one side.”

“You can see he’s moving too much, going too far the other way. That’s what I see and worry about with the penalty that’s been give to us now.”

‘I think his form in trying to save them, I think it’s wrong, simply because he’s going so far, he’s making such a commitment to one side.

‘He’s giving it up, especially if you’ve got a longer run up, you can actually see him a yard away from the ball, he’s gone, he’s [Ndiaye] not kicked the ball yet and David Raya has taken two steps to his right.

‘You’re going to see that when you’re running up, you can see he’s committ to one side.

‘That’s the only thing I look at and worries me with the penalties being take against us at the minute.’
